Learn more about MATC at Instructor Responsibilities Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities. Manage the classroom/laboratory. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation. Manage equipment, supplies and materials. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues. Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC. Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry. Complete program evaluation and follow-up. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered. Minimum Educational Requirements: Must have one of the following Must have a master's degree or higher in Political Science or Sociology, or; A Master's degree in the area of humanities or social science and 18 graduate credits in coursework from the Political Science Department, or: A Ph.D. (or ABD) in Political Science or in a closely related humanities or social science discipline such as Comparative Politics, Urban Studies, Urban Affairs, Urban Planning, History, Public Policy, Public Administration, Sociology, Jurisprudence, Criminal Justice, Philosophy, Economics, Civics, Governmental Studies, Political Theory, Policy Studies, International Relations, or Statistics Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual Spanish/English (must be able to read, write and speak in both languages fluently) Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education. Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online. Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency. Standards of Teaching Excellence: Understanding Students and Fostering Student Success Classroom Management Planning/Organization Content Mastery and Currency Teaching Methodology Assessment of Student Learning Professional Contributions Essential Technology: Email - Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook) Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system Computer - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google Essential Supportive Technology: Online Information Management Systems - e.g. Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications) Supplemental Information Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the spring semester; approximately January, 2026 start date. Hours: This position is up to a 0.5 FTE and will require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Hours, location, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need. Out of state applicants must be willing to relocate to the Milwaukee/SE Wisconsin area. Salary: Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2024/2025 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
