Job Description Job Description Coulee Connections Alternative School is seeking an experienced educator who brings energy compassion with priority on meeting children’s developmental, emotional, social, and academic needs within our school/ranch setting. Our outdoor educators are an integral part of our larger alternative school team that utilizes an innovative, holistic, experiential approach to engage students in partnering with us on our life affirming, collective learning journey. The ranch outdoor education team works within our larger collective program that includes academic learning (math, language arts, and STEM), Body and Brain activities, outdoor wilderness, adventure, and recreation programming. Coulee Connections partners with over 20 area school districts, who refer at risk/special education students in need of developing and building their student-ready and learner skills. Our Cedar Creek Ranch serves as the backdrop for students to explore nature, learn about the environment, and engage in hands-on activities, while also meeting educational standards and fostering a connection with the natural world. This position requires a desire and ability to lead experiential learning activities across diverse learning environments. Our outdoor classroom spaces include vegetable flower gardens/greenhouse, forest lands, spring fed creek, ponds, and prairie. Our indoor learning spaces are thoughtfully arranged to bring the outdoors inside, allowing our educators the flexibility to tailor fit their activities with the learning needs of the students. We have an active farm to table program that looks for meaningful ways to connect the benefits of the students’ agricultural efforts back into our programming, the students, their families and the communities we serve. Teachers have access to a wide variety of teaching and activity materials across a wide range of educational modalities and curriculums for supporting both group and individualized instruction. Educators have the ability to flex curriculum and tune into student needs when matching materials to support individual and group learning. Our team has a proven track record of bringing educator driven interest innovation into realized curriculum development, activity integration and directly linking it with actualized student growth. Our agency and team embody the principles that motivate educators to pursue careers in leading and nurturing our children and youth. Our team loves what we do, and we are looking for that special educator to join our mission.
